Overview
Chacma Bush Camp, enviably located deep within the heart of the lesser-known Maseke Balule Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger, offers the perfect big five safari experience in 8000 hectares of undulating landscapes dotted with rocky outcrops.
This family-friendly camp sleeps a total of 10 people, and thus offers an authentic and intimate safari experience close to the Olifants River. Deep caves on the traverse with flecks of mica make for a unique geology and game drives traverse over these diverse landscapes. The camp’s perimeter is hugged by Mopane woodlands which are a major drawcard for a wealth of wildlife. Elephants, bushbuck, kudu and plains game are commonly spotted in these woodlands, and can be viewed from the comfort of the deck area surrounding the sparkling swimming pool. There's a natural waterlogged area in front of camp which provides wildlife with the much needed replenishment needed during the heat of the day.
Evening times are spent swapping stories around the roaring campfire in the boma area, and dinners are spent indulging in traditional cuisine in the rustic lapa.
Enjoy daily game drives in this 8000 hectare reserve, and special excursions such as sundowners, bush breakfasts at the river and star gazing can be arranged.

Chacma Bush Camp Accommodation
There are 3 chalets at Chacma Bush Camp, constructed from a mix of stone and natural boulders. Each of the rooms is similar in its decor, amenities and finishings but differs slightly in its layout and views. All rooms have air-con, plenty of cupboard space and en-suite bathroom with shower.

A small waterhole is neatly positioned in front of the swimming pool and outdoor area; and is frequented by elephant herds.
Guests Watch Buffalo in Front of Camp
When you get out of bed, cast your eye across to the waterhole in front of the lodge. It's normally bustling with some kind of activity. You might wake-up to the sound of splashing water, trumpeting or stampeding. Take a wander down to the pool area and watch the wildlife procession taking place.

Activities
What you can do
Game Drives
Game drives take place in the 8000ha reserve comprising of mopane woodlands, the Olifants River and rocky terrain. Game drives will take place in the morning and evening, and rangers will stop for morning coffee breaks and evening sundowners.
Game Viewing at Camp
The waterhole at Chacma Bush Camp sits just below the patio and pool deck area. It's a major drawcard for a ton of wildlife, and you can watch elephants, buffalo, birds and other wildlife from around the pool area. Wildlife at the waterhole isn't guaranteed, but there are often consistent sightings of big game arriving at the water's edge for a drink!
Special Sundowners
Golden hour is a much celebrated event in the Kruger, and guests are encouraged to make the most of their safari by opting for the special/additional sundowner set-up. For special occasions we can arrange a classic Melvill and Moon safari sundowner set-up on top of the lookout point, or in a clearing in the bushveld.
