The gentle murmur of the Indian Ocean is a constant lullaby. Here, close to the city of Durban in South Africa’s “forgotten paradise”, lies a true gem. Days at Sea – a luxury hotel with just 6 suites, is a hideaway in the true sense of the word, a refuge for lovers of nature, first-class cuisine and fine wine.
The European background of artist and photographer Dr. Guido Schoeldgen and his wife Annette, a fashion designer, is evident throughout. Clear-cut lines, refreshing pictures and sculptures with accompanying texts characterise the beachfront hotel. Each suite is a world on its own, a masterpiece of design in exquisite shades of aqua blue. The spacious pool set over the ocean is illuminated at night. Above it are the restaurant and lounge with projected images and music ranging from Pavarotti to Café Del Mar. The chef makes suggestions, the guests decide and then enjoy – fusion cuisine, a combination of Italy and France with a dash of Asia, “con-fusion cuisine” as Guido jokingly calls it. The five-star boutique hotel is surrounded by three world-class golf courses – Wildcoast, San Lameer and Southbroom – and several leading game reserves, home to the “big five”, are within driving distance. The team of the hotel deals in a cheerful yet discreet manner with queries or requests. With breakfast served in bed or on the private terrace, the hotel is a haven not only for honeymooners. The owners philosophy? – there’s no such thing as no can do!

Three amazing golf courses are very close by and further fifteen easily to reach within minutes. San Lameer Golf Course is just 5 minutes away -a world class Course by Peter Matkovich. who also designed Arabella. Steenberg, Pinnacle Point, De Zalze and Hermanus to name a few. Wild Coast Golf Course hosting the famous Nashua Open designed by Robert Trent Jones is the most spectacular Course in South Africa. Southbroom with the legendary golfer Derrick James who won the Canadian Open as the Golf Director is just minutes away. A beautiful walking course right on the ocean. For tee off times and everything you need. the reception will do the best job to help the guests.

Enjoy a ride on the fabulous beaches of Trafalgar or through a romantic sugar cane farm. You can experience the peaceful nature of this paradise. The Lodge will do their best to arrange the most stunning adventure for their guests.
Scuba Diving
With the famous Aliwal Shoal around the corner scuba divers have one of the 10 best dive spots of the world. DAYS AT SEA will arrange with a PADI school everything you wish. The dive spots are a mere 35 min drive from the Lodge.
Surfing
The ideal spot for surfing. We can arrange a surf instructor for beginners.
Swimming and Bathing
Just a short walk from DAYS AT SEA you have an unspoiled and safe Blue Flag Beach of the highest standard worldwide. They are protected against sharks and absolutely secure. Lifesavers are on duty all days through. The wonderful sandy beaches are incomparable.
Whale- and Dolphin watching
The South Coast is famous for the spectacular Sardine Run in early July. First described and filmed by Jacques Yves Cousteau it is a high light for everyone. Because of the warm water cooling down 26 degrees in summer to 19 degrees in winter, the huge shoals with millions of sardines are coming to the South Coast. They are welcomed by the whales and dolphins eagerly waiting for an opulent meal. DAYS AT SEA arranges trips and boat tours. But you can even watch whales and dolphins throughout the year from your terraces.
