Gwahumbe is fast becoming a popular venue for 4x4ing as well as new 4×4 vehicle launches.Gwahumbe is the perfect destination for 4x 4 self drives and we encourage guests to traverse the entire Reserve unguided. For those guests who do not own four wheel drive vehicles we do offer two game drives daily with one of our experianced drivers.
Fishing
Gwahumbe has three prominent fishing spots where guests have the chance of catching tilapia and bass. We are an eco – friendly reserve so please bear in mind that we practice catch and release principles.
Game Drives
Gwahumbe Game & Spa offers game drives in open 4×4 vehicles with a qualified guide to ensure your safety and viewing experience. We have two 10-seater Landcruisers with drives going out twice daily. Game drives are undoubtedly the best way to view our exceptional fauna & flora and offers the ecotourist the opportunity to get up close and personal with the game in a natural setting. As our reserve is relatively small, there is always an excellent chance for guests to view our game – namely Jackal, Serval, Hippo, Ostrach, Wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, Blessbok and many antelope species.
Game Walks
Guests are taken on an interesting and informative walk with one of our knowledgeable Field Guides. This activity provides the perfect opportunity to get in touch with and learn more about the smaller fauna and flora in our reserve. The walk usually lasts for about 1 – 1 ½ hours and need not be strenuous.
Mountain Biking & Trail Running
Gwahumbe has a fully marked mountain bike and trail run route for guests to enjoy. This route forms a part of the Mid-Illovo Husqvarna Classic race, which is held annually. Day visitors are welcome to make use of the track. Shower facilities are available.Mountain bikes are available for hire.
