Luxury Lodges · Maloba Private Game Reserve, South Africa
Maloba Private Game Reserve
Overview
Maloba isn’t a lodge you visit. It’s a world you remember. A return to something more elemental—untouched, unfiltered, unexpected.
Set on 20,000 hectares of private wilderness in South Africa’s Upper Kalahari, Maloba is for those who’ve seen the world, yet seek something the world no longer offers.
Here, luxury is measured not in gold taps or ten-course menus—but in the deep silence before sunrise, the rush of wind under your private helicopter, and the way a rhino locks eyes with you before disappearing into brush.
This is the luxury of space. Of stillness. Of surprise.
And this is Maloba.
Suites that Whisper, Not Shout
The Maloba Suite
Refined, but still raw.
Four identical suites stand beneath canvas and stars, blending Dutch design heritage with elemental African textures—stone, wood, flame, and copper. Glass doors slide open to the wild, letting in morning calls of wildebeest or the hush of golden afternoons. Each suite offers:
- Private plunge pool overlooking game paths
- XXL kingsize boxspring bed, draped in linen
- Freestanding bathtub + indoor & outdoor rain showers
- Indoor and outdoor fireplaces
- Custom lighting, air conditioning, Wi-Fi
- Rain Africa toiletries, daily minibar restock
- In-suite exercise equipment for sunrise stretches
Every detail allows for presence. Every comfort invites pause.
The Diamond Suite
For those who move to their own rhythm.
This singular 100m² sanctuary is Maloba’s most exclusive. Reached via a private boardwalk and situated for panoramic views, it offers complete seclusion—and a few indulgences no other guest enjoys.
- Private firepit and large pool
- Full indoor/outdoor living areas
- Separate dressing room
- Private 4x4 game viewer and guide
- Exclusive Diamond Night experience included
- Space for two children (on request)
It’s not just a suite. It’s a stay with its own pace, privileges, and horizon.
A Journey Designed for Depth
Whether you stay three nights or ten, every Maloba itinerary is curated—not crammed. We believe luxury isn’t about doing more, but about doing the right things. The ones that linger.
Daily Activities (Included):
- Sunrise & sunset game drives in open 4x4s
- Curated sundowners in new settings every day
Every activity is private or semi-private, with expert guides who know when to speak—and when to let the bush do the talking.
Signature Culinary Experiences (Included):
- Bush dinners under starlit cathedrals
- Farm-to-table lunches in Maloba’s organic gardens
- Fresh morning platters & à la carte breakfasts
- Paired South African vintages curated for each dinner
- Vegan, vegetarian, kosher or halal? Simply ask.
Food at Maloba is never loud or fussy. It’s nourishing, regional, honest—and plated like a love letter to the land.
For the Curious & the Brave: Experiences That Shift You
Rhino and Buffalo Darting
Help return a buffalo to the wild—untagged, unbranded. Observe tranquilization from the air and assist our team as outdated ear-tags are removed. A rare blend of adrenaline, ethics, and legacy.
Conducted only a few times per year to minimize stress, this conservation mission allows you to witness the darting of a rhino from the air, the fitting of GPS collars, and vital medical checks. It’s not a show. It’s real conservation. And it changes you.
How You Arrive Sets the Tone
While scenic 4x4 transfers from Kimberley are included, many of our guests choose to arrive in style:
- Helicopter transfers: 20-minute flight from Kimberley
- Private jet coordination: Kimberley welcomes most jet classes
- Door-to-suite concierge: We handle everything in between
From your first contact to final farewell, every moment is tailored. WhatsApp, email, or call—our team is never far.
A Stay that Gives Back
Every booking contributes to the Maloba Foundation, our arm for long-term conservation and local impact. With every night you stay:
- Rhinos stay tracked
- Children in nearby communities stay in school
- Poaching units stay trained and equipped
And with experiences like APU Training or darting safaris, your impact grows even further. Conservation here isn’t a billboard. It’s a blueprint.
Your Safety, Always in Reach
While rare, emergencies in remote areas demand swift response. That’s why Maloba partners with ROCKET, South Africa’s elite helicopter emergency service.
- ICU-grade medical helicopters
- 12-minute flight from base to Maloba
- Average response time: under 30 minutes
This invisible net of care ensures you can fully relax—knowing we are always prepared.
