Mara Plains Camp

Mara Plains Camp is a one-of-a-kind camp located in the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy, just on the Maasai Mara National Reserve’s northern boundary. This intimate camp, one of Kenya’s only three Relais & Chateaux properties (other being sister properties ol Donyo Lodge and Mara Nyika Camp), blends the finest in wildlife viewing with the absolute best of safari hospitality and guiding.

Guests staying at Mara Plains Camp enjoy access to private conservancy land in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy as well as the world-renowned Maasai Mara Reserve.

Each guest at Mara Plains Camp contributes considerably to the success of the Olare Motorogi Conservancy’s flourishing ecosystem; conservation fees paid to safeguard this habitat while supporting over 1,000 Maasai families. This partnership agreement ensures the survival of an astounding volume and variety of wildlife.

The camp is nestled in a lush forest on the meandering bends of the Ntiakitiak River, with careful thought given to every detail. The camp is not an imposition on the landscape, but rather a subtle refuge among the wild. Its presence does not detract from the ecosystem’s visual beauty but incorporates it with sweeping views across the plains and careful position among the riverine forest. It is captivating on arrival.

Each of the suites has deep canvas canopied ceilings, rough-hewn wood floors and accents of East Africa’s rich safari history. Thick Lamu wood doors, deep reds, and brass accents – these small details transport guests to a time and land far away. The well-appointed en-suite facilities (including a deep copper bath) and extensive private verandah complete what is genuinely a stunning concept. These stylistic elements and thoughtful environmental elements such as solar power and no cement make Mara Plains a modern-day safari retreat.

The Jahazi Suite at Mara Plains, an intimate, two-bedroom exquisite, tented suite, is built entirely under canvas and is a perfect partner to the safari experiences at Mara Nyika Camp and ol Donyo Lodge. It is on raised, recycled railway sleeper decking and offers guests incredible views of the steady stream of wildlife parading past whilst discreetly tucked away under the tree canopy. Central to the Jahazi Suite at Mara Plains is an indoor dining area leading out to a prominent private outdoor verandah and flanked by two large bedrooms with en-suite facilities consisting of a flush loo, double basins and indoor and outdoor showers and luxurious baths. A short walkway leads off the main area to a private swimming pool. Ceiling fans in the guest’s bedroom and careful tented suite design maintain a comfortable climate for rest and relaxation. When residing at the Jahazi Suite at Mara Plains, guests automatically enjoy the services of a private safari vehicle and guide.

The Olare Motorogi Conservancy is reputed to have the lowest vehicle density in the Maasai Mara region, while also having the highest concentration of big cats anywhere in Africa. The camp is a sanctuary for resident species by day and night, including many of the Maasai Mara’s 300 bird species. After dark, larger mammals frequent the camp and Maasai warriors escort guests to and from their rooms. Hippos snorting and leopards barking often provide the night’s chorus.

But most of all, Mara Plains is a showcase for one of the world’s most magnificent wildlife havens. We believe in keeping the safari experience intimate and personal, so there is no set camp schedule or set mealtimes. The guest’s preferences wildlife opportunities of the moment tailor the day’s activities and dining arrangements. Each guest suite has a set of professional camera and lenses available to them. Add to it the pair of high-quality binoculars, and it is impossible not to see and capture the region’s incredible wildlife scenes.

Mara Nyika Camp

“Nyika” means “Large Plains or Great Plains,” and Mara Nyika is the perfect sister camp to Mara Plains in Kenya. It rings with the romance of the vast open plains of East Africa from a time when light canvas flapped in the light breeze across those plains as wildebeest and zebras call to each other and at twilight, “Simba,” the great lion’s roar across the Nyika.

Typical of the Maasai Mara’s ancient Nyika is the flat-topped Acacia kirkii trees. The Dereck Joubert designed guest suites take advantage of these umbrella thorn tree’s shade. While the camp is in a valley, actually straddling a small stream, the suites are set up high under the tree’s canopy to offer guests awe-inspiring views out over the bush.

Many may think of Mara Nyika as a treetop camp, with the suites’ walkways to the main area giving a feel of a treehouse under canvas. However, the camp’s ethic and inspiration are still one of exploration and adventure – a sense of impermanence in this ever-changing world.

Privacy in this camp is the key to understanding it. Privacy to live, think, explore, be romantic, and be pampered – all the while with one of the most spectacular backdrops Africa can provide.

Mara Nyika, located in the private and exclusive Naboisho Conservancy, is unique because it allows guests to explore the conservancy and further afield with safari drives into the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Guest’s stay enables us to support over 500 Maasai families with a sustainable livelihood through the payment of conservation fees, which ultimately ensures the conservation of the wildlife in this vital corridor of the Maasai Mara eco-system.

Many Mara Nyika’s guests spend a few days here before extending their safari to either our Mara Expedition, Mara Toto Tree or Mara Plains Camps. Combining these camps ensures a more comprehensive wildlife experience as guests explore all three wildlife areas: the private Olare Motorogi and Naboisho Conservancies and Maasai Mara Reserve. Each wildlife experience from our camps is unique and offers different Mara faces, which is an unbelievable bonus.

Manda Bay Lodge

Manda Bay is a small boutique lodge located on the tip of an unspoiled, idyllic island in Lamu’s archipelago where you kick off your shoes and enjoy simplistic beauty in palm thatched cottages and open living spaces. Manda Bay is perfect for honeymooners, families, solo travellers and groups looking to enjoy time together.

Manda Bay combines a bush and beach experience. Whilst miles of soft sand and coconut palms surround the lodge itself, the bush behind the lodge is dry country scattered with Doum palms, Acacia Tortilis and savannah-like scrub. A variety of birds and mammals inhabit the island.

Manda Bay offers open-air accommodation, informal pampering and barefoot luxury. All the buildings are in keeping with the local landscape and are constructed using palm and driftwood and local building techniques.

Maloba Private Game Reserve

Where Time Bends to the Wild

Maloba isn’t a lodge you visit. It’s a world you remember. A return to something more elemental—untouched, unfiltered, unexpected. Set on 20,000 hectares of private wilderness in South Africa’s Upper Kalahari, Maloba is for those who’ve seen the world, yet seek something the world no longer offers.

Here, luxury is measured not in gold taps or ten-course menus—but in the deep silence before sunrise, the rush of wind under your private helicopter, and the way a rhino locks eyes with you before disappearing into brush.

This is the luxury of space. Of stillness. Of surprise.

And this is Maloba.

Suites that Whisper, Not Shout

The Maloba Suite

Refined, but still raw.

Four identical suites stand beneath canvas and stars, blending Dutch design heritage with elemental African textures—stone, wood, flame, and copper. Glass doors slide open to the wild, letting in morning calls of wildebeest or the hush of golden afternoons. Each suite offers:

  • Private plunge pool overlooking game paths
  • XXL kingsize boxspring bed, draped in linen
  • Freestanding bathtub + indoor & outdoor rain showers
  • Indoor and outdoor fireplaces
  • Custom lighting, air conditioning, Wi-Fi
  • Rain Africa toiletries, daily minibar restock
  • In-suite exercise equipment for sunrise stretches

Every detail allows for presence. Every comfort invites pause.

The Diamond Suite

For those who move to their own rhythm.

This singular 100m² sanctuary is Maloba’s most exclusive. Reached via a private boardwalk and situated for panoramic views, it offers complete seclusion—and a few indulgences no other guest enjoys.

  • Separate dressing room
  • Private 4×4 game viewer and guide

A Journey Designed for Depth

Whether you stay three nights or ten, every Maloba itinerary is curated—not crammed. We believe luxury isn’t about doing more, but about doing the right things. The ones that linger.

Daily Activities (Included):

  • Sunrise & sunset game drives in open 4x4s
  • Curated sundowners in new settings every day

Every activity is private or semi-private, with expert guides who know when to speak—and when to let the bush do the talking.

Signature Culinary Experiences (Included):

  • Bush dinners under starlit cathedrals
  • Farm-to-table lunches in Maloba’s organic gardens
  • Fresh morning platters & à la carte breakfasts
  • Paired South African vintages curated for each dinner
  • Vegan, vegetarian, kosher or halal? Simply ask.

Food at Maloba is never loud or fussy. It’s nourishing, regional, honest—and plated like a love letter to the land.

For the Curious & the Brave: Experiences That Shift You

Rhino and Buffalo Darting

Help return a buffalo to the wild—untagged, unbranded. Observe tranquilization from the air and assist our team as outdated ear-tags are removed. A rare blend of adrenaline, ethics, and legacy.

Conducted only a few times per year to minimize stress, this conservation mission allows you to witness the darting of a rhino from the air, the fitting of GPS collars, and vital medical checks. It’s not a show. It’s real conservation. And it changes you.

How You Arrive Sets the Tone

While scenic 4×4 transfers from Kimberley are included, many of our guests choose to arrive in style:

  • Helicopter transfers: 20-minute flight from Kimberley
  • Private jet coordination: Kimberley welcomes most jet classes

Every booking contributes to the Maloba Foundation, our arm for long-term conservation and local impact. With every night you stay:

  • Poaching units stay trained and equipped

And with experiences like APU Training or darting safaris, your impact grows even further. Conservation here isn’t a billboard. It’s a blueprint.

Your Safety, Always in Reach

While rare, emergencies in remote areas demand swift response. That’s why Maloba partners with ROCKET, South Africa’s elite helicopter emergency service.

  • ICU-grade medical helicopters
  • 12-minute flight from base to Maloba
  • Average response time: under 30 minutes

This invisible net of care ensures you can fully relax—knowing we are always prepared.

Malkoha Lake St. Lucia

A Soulful Escape in South Africa’s First World Heritage Site

Set within the breathtaking iSimangaliso Wetland Park — South Africa’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site — Malkoha Lake St Lucia (formerly Nibela Lake Lodge) offers a tranquil retreat for travellers seeking connection, stillness, and a deeper encounter with nature.

Located on the western shores of Lake St Lucia, Africa’s largest estuarine lake, the lodge is enveloped by the rare and ancient Sand Forest, a sanctuary of timeless beauty and biodiversity. This is not a resort, but a refuge of reflection — where the rhythm of nature guides each moment and every experience feels intentional.

Guests arrive via a private ferry crossing, a serene passage across glittering waters that marks the transition from the everyday to the extraordinary. Upon arrival, traditional Zulu rituals honour the land and its people, setting the tone for a stay defined by authenticity and reverence.

Days at Malkoha begin with forest light and gentle ritual — freshly brewed coffee, chai, or rusks enjoyed on the deck before guided experiences with Untravelled Trails invite reconnection with nature’s quiet rhythm. Explore the wetlands and forests or simply unwind as the sounds of birdsong and breeze fill the air.

As the sun sets, evenings unfold in soulful celebration. The call of the kudu horn signals the start of the lakeside boma experience, where guests gather around the fire for a hand-washing ceremony, followed by a feast of locally inspired dishes and Zulu song beneath the stars.

Each night concludes with a thoughtful turndown ritual and a Zulu proverb such as “Izinyoni ziyaqonda lapho zizalelwa khona” – Birds always return to where they were born. Departures are marked by a farewell blessing bracelet or a tree planted in the guest’s honour — a lasting connection to the land.

Accommodation at Malkoha blends natural textures, earthy tones, and understated luxury, reflecting the tranquil essence of its surroundings. With locally inspired cuisine, curated morning and evening activities, and handcrafted experiences that celebrate Zululand’s cultural and ecological heritage, every detail is designed to restore and inspire.

Whether you come seeking solitude, soulful connection, or a meaningful journey into one of Africa’s most diverse ecosystems, Malkoha Lake St Lucia offers an unforgettable experience — where reflection meets wilderness and every stay becomes a story.

There are six tents on either side of the Main Tent, each accessible by a shared walkway, the furthest of which is approximately a 5 minute walk from the Main Tent. Ten of the 12 tents are designed to sleep two adults and all can be split into twin beds. The remaining two tents are configured so that the sitting area is enclosed with fold-out sofa beds accommodating up to two additional guests – ideal for families. All have large outdoor terraces and bathrooms feature roll top baths, seperate showers and twin vanity units – with hairdryers.

Game drives are in top of the range open 4×4 Land Cruiser vehicles, seating a maximum of six guests. Depart in the early morning and late afternoon for your thrilling game drive in near solitude. Night game drives are also available and can be arranged by guests whilst at Mahali Mzuri. We can also pack you a picnic lunch and set off on a full day drive to make the most of the bush.

We can cater for those with special dietary needs so just let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to have exactly what you need.

At breakfast a continental buffet will be served with hot dishes available à la carte, and guests typically share tables – it’s a great time to chat with your fellow travellers about the wildlife you saw earlier that morning. Lunch is normally served on the main deck with individual tables and guests can order from the à la carte menu. Dinner could be around a large communal table, out in the bush or somewhere private just for two!

In a more secluded spot a short walk from the Main Tent is our spa treatment room, called Nasaro, offering eco-friendly treatments using the Africology range of products which are made from 100% essential oils and natural plant extracts.

We recommend children be aged 6 years of age and above to stay at Mahali Mzuri and they must be at least 6 years old to participate in the daily game drives and accompanied by their parents. Children of all ages must be under parental supervision at all times whilst in camp. We have two tents which are able to accommodate additional guests in the separate enclosed sitting room. We have children’s books, games and kites, plus a TV, DVD player and games console for extra entertainment. We would be delighted to organise tailored activities to further educate our younger guests on their African surroundings and the local wildlife. Baby-sitting can be arranged but please advise at the time of booking if this may be required. Special food and beverages or simple snacks and light meals can be prepared according to your child’s tastes.

We hope to welcome you to Mahali Mzuri!

Lukimbi Safari Lodge

Lukimbi Safari Lodge is a stunning luxury safari lodge situated in the easily accessible southern portion of the Kruger National Park, South Africa. Kruger is home to the Big Five and a wide variety of other animals and birds, which roam freely in their natural habitat.

Lukimbi is situated in the game rich, southern section of the world renowned Kruger National Park. Bounded by 3 major river systems, the extensive 15 000 hectare area offers a diverse array of habitats. The vast grasslands dominate the northern portion, whereas the southern and central areas are more heavily wooded and interspersed with lush riverine thickets.

This provides ideal habitat for large herds of zebra, wildebeest and other plains animals. The white rhino enjoy the numerous pans and wallows, whilst the shyer and more elusive black rhino can be found in the more thickly wooded areas.

Herds of buffalo roam through grasslands seeking the succulent grasses, before moving down to rivers to amble slowly through the reeds. Elephants can frequently be seen all over the concession and in the river in front of the lodge is a favourite place for them to spend hours at a time. Guests relaxing at the lodge pools can find themselves enthralled, watching elephant families equally enjoying their own pools, particularly if the families include babies.

Where you find animals, you find the predators. Tracking lions in open vehicles is one of the most exciting things to do and guests will never forget the spine chilling and awesome sound of a lion roarding at close quarters. Leopards are also found at Lukimbi, more difficult to spot, but guests are rewarded with the sight of one of the most beautiful animals in the world.

Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Winner 2024, 2023, 2019, 2018 (& prior years), Booking.com Traveller Review Award 2026, 2025, 2024, as well Kudu Business partner of the Year Awards (KNP-multiple years).
